Die Hochschule Fulda nimmt an einem Bundesrahmenvertrag mit der Firma Microsoft teil. Allen immatrikulierten Studierenden und allen Lehrenden der Hochschule Fulda bietet Microsoft dadurch die Nutzung der Software Microsoft Office365 Education an.
Die Installation von Microsoft Office365 Education ist nur unter Microsoft Windows oder Apple MacOS möglich. Falls Sie eine Office Lösung für GNU/Linux benötigen, bzw. OpenSource Software vorziehen und auf eine Registrierung verzichten möchten, testen Sie z.B. LibreOffice oder WPSOffice.
Beachten Sie bei der Wahl einer Microsoft-Alternative jedoch, dass es gewisse Inkompatibilitäten (vor allem im Bereich der Formatierung ihrer Dokumente, z.B. durch fehlende oder inkompatible Schriftarten) geben kann. Jeder Benutzer muss ein Microsoft-Konto separat im Rechenzentrum beantragen. Die Online-Selbstregistrierung für das M365 Education-Programm funktioniert nicht mehr für Desktop-Lizenzen.
Falls Sie ein neues Konto benötigen, senden Sie bitte ein Ticket! Auch wenn wir Sie an der Hochschule natürlich gerne persönlich unterstützen, ist ein Ticket oft der schnellste Weg zur Lösung. So wird Ihr Anliegen sofort in unserem System erfasst und meist zügiger bearbeitet als bei einem Besuch vor Ort.
Bitte achten Sie auf ein vollständiges Ticket: Geben Sie alle erforderlichen Daten sowie eine genaue Beschreibung Ihres Anliegens an. Unvollständige Angaben können die Bearbeitung leider erheblich verzögern.

Liebe Studierende und Mitarbeiter*innen,
derzeit kann es auf Mac-Geräten dazu kommen, dass sich Office-Dateien (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) zwar öffnen, aber nicht mehr bearbeiten oder speichern lassen.
Hintergrund: Microsoft hat weltweit zum 13. Juli 2026 ein Lizenzierungs-Zertifikat für Mac- und iOS-Apps erneuert. Geräte bzw. Office-Apps, die dadurch nicht mehr die Mindestanforderungen erfüllen (mind. macOS 12 und Office-Version 16.83), wechseln automatisch in einen eingeschränkten Modus – Dateien lassen sich dann zwar öffnen, aber nicht mehr bearbeiten oder speichern. Das betrifft aktuell viele Mac-Nutzer weltweit und hat nichts mit Ihrem persönlichen Lizenzstatus zu tun.
- Stellen Sie zunächst sicher, dass Ihre MacOS-Version die von Microsoft für Office 365 geforderten Mindestanforderungen erfüllt.
- Danach, in einer Office-App (z. B. Word) unter Hilfe > Auf Updates prüfen die Apps zu aktualisieren und sich anschließend in allen Office365-Apps vollständig ab- und wieder anzumelden.
- Sollte das nicht helfen, ist eine gründlichere Lösung, Office und die zugehörigen Apps komplett von Ihrem Mac zu deinstallieren und anschließend neu herunterzuladen und zu installieren (dafür wird macOS 14 oder neuer benötigt).

Fulda University of Applied Sciences participates in a nationwide framework agreement with Microsoft. Through this agreement, Microsoft offers the use of the software Microsoft Office 365 Education to all enrolled students and all teaching staff at Fulda University of Applied Sciences.
The installation of Microsoft Office 365 Education is only possible on Microsoft Windows or Apple macOS. If you require an office solution for GNU/Linux, prefer open-source software, and wish to avoid registration, consider trying e.g. LibreOffice or WPS Office.
Please note when choosing an alternative to Microsoft that certain incompatibilities may arise (especially regarding document formatting, e.g., due to missing or incompatible fonts). A feature comparison between LibreOffice and Microsoft Office can be found here.
A Microsoft account needs to be applied for at the Rechenzentrum separately by each user. The online self registration for the M365 Education program does not work anymore for desktop licenses.
If you need a new account, please submit a ticket! While we are, of course, happy to assist you in person at the university, submitting a ticket is often the quickest way to resolve your issue. This ensures that your request is immediately logged in our system and is usually processed more quickly than if you were to visit us in person.
Please ensure your ticket is complete: Include all necessary details and a clear description of your specific issue. Unfortunately, incomplete requests might significantly delay the processing time.

Dear Students and Employees,
Some of you may currently notice that Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) on some Mac devices can still be opened but can no longer be edited or saved.
Background: Microsoft renewed worldwide a licensing certificate for Mac and iOS apps on July 13, 2026. Devices or Office apps that no longer meet the minimum requirements as a result (at least macOS 12 and Office version 16.83) automatically switch to a restricted mode – files can still be opened, but no longer edited or saved. This is currently affecting many Mac users worldwide and has nothing to do with your personal license status.
- First make sure your MacOS version meets the minimum requirements required by Microsoft for Office 365.
- The next step is to update the apps in an Office app (e.g. Word) under Help > Check for Updates, and then sign out and back in fully in all Office 365 apps.
- If that doesn't help, a more thorough solution is to completely uninstall Office and its associated apps from your Mac, then download and reinstall them (this requires macOS 14 or later).
